Book Boyfriend Box: AKA Why I Haven’t Been Blogging

So I’m still here (though it’s okay if you didn’t miss me or notice I was gone). But I’ve been pretty preoccupied with my new project. As some of you followers might now, I love subscription boxes. I think they’re genius! But I was tired of being disappointed with the boxes I was subscribed to month after month and not finding the perfect box to fit my needs.

So I started one of my own with the help of Taylor!

I’m proud to introduce you to Book Boyfriend Box!

Book Boyfriend Box, inspired by popular books and characters (particularly of the swoon, male variety), brings a new favorite book and book crush to your door every other month. I wanted to create a box with not only awesome items that any bibliophile can enjoy, but also introduces you to new characters for us to love and cherish.

We debuted in September, and the first box was a great success that I’m super proud of. Especially because I didn’t really know what I was doing haha. I even had my first interview, which you can check out here. This is a dream come true for Taylor and I, as we’ve both always wanted to be entrepreneurs.

I’m having so much fun putting these boxes together and trying to find the perfect book! But, yes it does take up a lot of my time. And on top of that, little Ollie is a rambunctious toddler now, so we have our work cut out for us.

img_5755Our December box is on sale now, and by golly, it is perfect! The theme of the month is “Love Letters,” and along with an amazing newly released novel, the box will contain Jane Austen inspired products for all those Mrs. Darcys out there. Seriously this box is sweet! If you’re interested in picking one up, use the code BBBWELCOME at checkout for a 10% discount off your first box.

And that’s what I’m up to everyone! Book Boyfriend Box! For fangirls by a fangirl (and her nerdy hubby).

Salt Lake FanX2016 Review: From One First Time Congoer to Another

What a weekend! I attended my very first con ever. It’s been on my geek bucket list for ages, and I got around to it; I had someone to go with (my husband) and I wasn’t pregnant (thanks to my husband and I mean that in the best way). It was awesome! It was exhausting! It was beautiful! It was tiring! It was some kind of euphoria despite the hellish long lines and crowds.

And all in all, I loved it and would do it again.

It was one of those rare moments in my life where I felt like I actually fit in. Geeks, nerds, and dorks of every kind were in attendance, all factions accounted for from the closet geeks, the comic freaks, the super nerds, the gamers, the bookworms, and any other group you can think of. I could wear a costume or a shirt and not have adults look at me like an immature woman-child. Continue reading “Salt Lake FanX2016 Review: From One First Time Congoer to Another”

Psst…Guess Where I Am?

I won’t be posting today. Why? Because I’m at a con meeting the great Jason Isaacs, aka Captain Hook, aka Lucius Malfoy.

Stay tuned! I’ll tell you all about it on Monday!

An update on the shop: I’ve reached a slight hitch, which is normal for all start-ups right?! It’s no big deal. I’m just waiting for some paperwork to be approved. In the meantime, I will keep designing so that more fandoms and geekishness will be represented when everything is sorted out! If the paperwork just happens to not get approved, we have several other options. Fear not! There will be a store! And it will be awesome! I’ve already received some samples of my designs and they look amazing! Continue reading “Psst…Guess Where I Am?”

OwlCrate March Box Review

I love it! I love it! I love it!

“What are you talking about, Bailey?” you ask. OwlCrate, of course!

For those of you who don’t know, OwlCrate is an awesome monthly subscription box focusing on YA lit.  Subscription boxes are all the rage right now, and OwlCrate is one of the more popular amongst bibliophiles. Each month includes a recently released hardcover book along with 3-5 bookish and pop culture goodies. The box is also themed so everything ties in together. The catch? You never know what is going to be in the box! Continue reading “OwlCrate March Box Review”

Vamping & Hiking

Notice anything different? Yes, the blog has changed! With the opening of the GG store, I decided to vamp the whole blog because the previous layout wasn’t working for me. Speaking of the store, I will “officially” be opening shop on Monday. Stay tuned because I will be posting a coupon code for our grand opening on Etsy. Continue reading “Vamping & Hiking”

Launching: Sneak Peeks

It’s an exciting time and I have an announcement to make! I will be launching a store for Geeking Goddess where you can purchase cool bookish and pop culture designs. This is a huge deal for me and I’m stoked! I’ve been hard at work designing, finding vendors, and setting up shop. There will be mugs, posters, throw pillows, and shirts to start off.

Here are some sneak peaks for your enjoyment! Continue reading “Launching: Sneak Peeks”

Top 20 Pop Culture Females

I didn’t write yesterday, but that’s okay because instead I get the opportunity to write on International Women’s Day! And I thought, why not celebrate? So without further ado, here are some of the most awesome, bad-a, butt-kicking, powerful females in renowned literature, film, tv, and music! In my humble opinion and in no particular order: Continue reading “Top 20 Pop Culture Females”

Why I Hope My Kids Love Anna and Elsa

ar-150519624We had the privilege of seeing Disney on Ice’s Frozen Wednesday night. I must say it was pretty spectacular. I expected no less given the popularity of Frozen. I doubt Disney spared any expense. And wow, it was definitely the best of their ice shows. The snow falling effect was amazing in conjunction with the use of white fireworks to represent Elsa’s powers. Kind of ironic to use fire as ice, but we can overlook that. Kristoff had a wonderful solo performance, which is more than they gave poor Jonathan Groff in the film. “Let It Go” was obviously fantastically done. The costumes were gorgeous. But honestly, the best part may have been the hundreds of little girls dressed up, singing at the top of their lungs, and screaming with delight: “ELSA!!!!!” It made me excited to have a daughter of my own someday with any luck.
